Glossaries

This page contains a variety of glossaries that translators can use as a source for translations and for quality control.

  • TEPA term bank - TEPA is a free-of-charge term bank maintained by the Finnish Terminology Centre (Sanastokeskus ry) containing special language terms and definitions in over 300,000 terminological entries. TEPA contains glossaries, dictionaries and terminological databases compiled by both Sanastokeskus and other experts.

  • Finto.fi-sanastot - Finto.fi is a centralized service for interoperable thesauri, ontologies and classification schemes for different subject areas.

  • Kielitoimiston sanakirja - Kielitoimiston sanakirja is a dictionary of standard Finnish compiled in the Institute for the Languages of Finland. The dictionary provides information on the meaning, usage, register and style of Finnish words today, as well as on their inflection and spelling. The dictionary contains over 100,000 entries.

  • Datatekniikan sanastoja - List of dictionaries maintained by Jukka Korpela.

  • Lokalisointi.org dictionary (archive.org) - Dictionary of former Lokalisointi.org which serves as a base for the current Lokalisointi.fi dictionary. This is available only via archive.org.

  • KDE:n sanasto - Terms used in KDE software, including the Plasma desktop, and their Finnish translations are collected in this glossary.

  • WordPress-sanasto (archive.org) - Terms and translations used in the WordPress software were collected on the Suomenna.fi website. The site is no longer functional, but the glossary is still available through the archive.org service.

  • Transvision - Transvision is a search engine for terminology and translations used in Mozilla products. It is intended to help translators with quality control.

  • Calc-funktiot englanniksi ja suomeksi - The English terms of the functions used in LibreOffice and their Finnish translations have been collected in this glossary.

  • Apple Localization Terms Glossary - This unofficial source of information includes translations used in Apple software.

  • Microsoft Terminology Search - The Microsoft Terminology Search provides a comprehensive number of translations used in Microsoft software.
